TO CELEBRATE EARTH DAY
"A Community Event for the
Appreciation, Use, and Preservation of William B. Umstead
State Park and the Richland
Creek Natural Area"

Walk/Run for Umstead
WHERE: A
private farm on Reedy Creek Road next to William B. Umstead
State Park. MAP
Parking on Reedy Creek Road (turn off Blue Ridge Road
across from N.C. Museum of Art and go straight ahead.)
WHEN:
Saturday April 17.
9 a.m. Sign in at
registration desk, turn in money collected from supporters
and pick up Walk/Run materials.You can walk/run any distance
up to 4 miles. Participants in the 4-mile Walk/Run take
pledges and collect donations. Adult participants who
raise at least $35 and children who raise at least $15
receive a T-shirt, eligibility for door prizes, food,
live music, and entry to the environmental exhibits. Highest
pledge earners win gift certificates to Great Outdoor
Provision Company; also prizes for fastest runners.
10 a.m. Walk/run starts.
Live music along trail in Umstead State Park.
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Music, food, exhibits & activities
Hundreds of park protection supporters from around the
Triangle will join together April 17th for the Celebration
for Umstead, a family-oriented fundraising event for
the appreciation, use and preservation of William B.
Umstead State Park and the Richland Creek Corridor.
Non-walk/run entry
to event: $5 adults, free for children under 12 (if accompanied
by an adult). Includes live music, eligibility for door
prizes, and environmental exhibits. T-shirts, food and
drinks sold separately or as a package deal with Walk/Run
entry ($35 adults, $15 children).
A fundraising event

- A 6K (4 Mile) walk/run
in the natural area of Umstead State Park (music along
the way
- Environmental Education
