Service Day- Forested Rain Garden and Pollinator Plant Sale-Saturday, May 4, 9:30am-2pm

  • 05/04/2019
  • 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM
  • William B. Umstead State Park

Registration is closed

This service day will concentrate on maintenance for our Forested Rain Garden.  Mostly weeding to enable the native plants to thrive.

OR, you can help with the pollinator plant and T-shirt sales.

Feel free to come anytime from 9:30am to 2pm and work for as little or long as you can.

Bring your work gloves if you have them.  But, we also have gloves. The Umstead Coalition will provide snacks, water, and lunch.

This project is providing several environmental and user benefits, including:  reduced runoff volume and intensity of stormwater runoff (as well as treatment of sediment and nutrient pollutants) due to the infiltration into special soil media and plants installed in the medians. The trees and shrubs will provide much needed shade in the hot, steamy parking lot.  The shade will reduce the temperature of the storm water and reduce the thermal impact to the downgradiant Park streams.
