This work day will concentration on some 'punch list' items to complete this phase of our Forested Rain Gardens at the Harrison Ave parking lot.

We will be laying the rest of the river rock  and fixing a few steep areas (we have some bigger rocks) on the side slopes.

Minor vegetation enhancements. We will be tying the trees and adding some deer protections. And, we'll re-spread some mulch.

Bring your work gloves and shovels if you have them.  But, we also have gloves. The Umstead Coalition will provide lunch, snacks and water.

Forecast is sunny!  (however, if raining hard we will reschedule).

We recognize you may only be able to attend for part of the day -- we'd love to have help for whatever time you can participate.

This project should result in several environmental and user benefits, including:  reduced runoff volume and intensity of stormwater runoff (as well as treatment of sediment and nutrient pollutants) due to the infiltration into special soil media and plants installed in the medians. The trees and shrubs will also provide much needed shade in the hot, steamy parking lot.  The shade will reduce the temperature of the storm water and reduce the thermal impact to the downgradiant Park streams.
