On July 10, 2017, the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority will hold a public workshop to present the financial plan for Vision2040. The workshop will be held at the General Aviation Terminal, 1750 E. International Drive, from Noon to 6 p.m.
PLEASE come and tell them:
1. You DO NOT want a quarry on RDU lands next to William B. Umstead State Park!! RDU is proposing to put a new industrial quarry (and all it's trucks!) between Old Reedy Creek Road and Umstead State Park/Crabtree Creek (e.g., "Rocky Road" or "Odd Fellows Tract"). This is NOT a place for a short-sighted permanent destruction of OUR PUBLIC lands.
2. You DO want the RDU Forest concept to be incorporated into the RDU Master Plan. This would preserve and enhance the singletrack biking and pedestrian trails within forested areas near Umstead State Park, Old Reedy Creek Road and Crabtree County Park.
3. You DO NOT want paved parking lots and a new road (Commerce Blvd) along the border of William B. Umstead State Park that would destroy our forested buffers at our State Park's borders!
