10:30am-noon: Hike
Join us for a hike in Umstead State Park along the border of the existing Wake Stone Triangle Quarry. See the negative environmental impact of the current quarry on our state park and how this will be amplified with the proposed RDU Quarry. There's nothing like seeing firsthand why it's so important to protect Umstead State Park.
This will be a moderately-paced hike along the border of Umstead State Park. We'll hike near Crabtree Creek and return via the Inspiration Trail. The hike will stay on State Park property and will last approximately 1.5 hours . Dr. Jean Spooner, Chair of the Umstead Coalition will lead the hike. We'll be off trail and in the forest - hiking boots are recommended.
Meet: Grassy area near Reedy Creek Parking lot (same location as plant and T-shirt sales)
