Join us for a First Day hike in Umstead State Park. This will be a slow-paced hike along the border of Umstead State Park and the Odd Fellows Tract - the proposed site of RDU Quarry. This hike will be led by Dr. Jean Spooner, Chair of the Umstead Coalition. Join this hike to learn about the history of the Odd Fellows Tract, the current status of the Stop RDU Quarry fight and to see a little-known (and stunning) section of Umstead State Park.

We'll hike by Foxcroft Lake to Crabtree Creek and beautiful rock outcrops in Umstead State Park near the Company Mill Trail. The hike is about 2 miles, but we'll stop frequently for discussions. Hiking boots are recommended since we'll be off trail and in the forest. Hiking poles may also be useful. This is an out and back hike and will stay on State Park property. This hike goes rain or shine.

We will also have Umstead fleece jackets (men's and woman's), hoodies, T-shirts and 2023 calendar for sale.  Sales will be open from noon til 3:30pm. Support your State Park!

By registering to this event, you have also signed the waiver
