Family and friends of Rod Broadbelt will gather for a dedication of a Park bench to the honor the long service Rod Broadbelt has given to the Park. Rod has lead extensive (in number and length) hikes and raised a lot funds to add to the appreciation and support of his beloved Park.
Rod's health is declining rapidly, but he is hopeful he will be able to attend. It is likely this will be Rod's last visit to the Park.
This is a work day (but the day that Rod's out of town family could attend), so we know it will be difficult for many of Rod's friends to attend. But, you can fondly think of Rod when you sit on his bench overlooking Reedy Creek Lake.
Meet at 11am at the Lobolly Trail head at the Reedy Creek entrance (Harrison Ave) parking lot to walk to the bench. (Rod and his family will drive in with the rangers). It is about 30 minute walk. Follow the Loblolly Trail until you take a left on the asphalt road. (turns into a dirt road). Follow that downhill to Reedy Creek Lake. The bench is on the far side of the dam.
11:30am Family and Friends gather with Rod Broadbelt for dedication of a bench overlooking Reedy Creek Lake to honor his friendship to our forest.
